Deep Clean vs Standard Clean: What’s the Difference?

A standard clean maintains a home that is already in good shape, while a deep clean — what I call a First-Time Clean — resets a home from top to bottom, adding baseboards, inside the oven, and kitchen degreasing. In Charlotte my standard clean starts at $100 per visit and the deep first-time clean starts at $130, by home size. Most people book the deep clean once, then keep it up with standard visits.

What a standard clean includes

A standard clean is maintenance. It is the visit that keeps an already-tidy home fresh: dusting surfaces, wiping counters and fixtures, cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms, and vacuuming and mopping floors. Two full bathrooms are included, and extra full baths are a flat $15 each.

This is the right service when your home gets regular attention and you mainly need someone to keep it that way. It is also the price tier my recurring discounts apply to.

What a deep (first-time) clean adds

My First-Time Clean is the deep clean. It does everything a standard clean does, then goes further into the spots that build up over time:

  • Baseboards wiped down, not just floors vacuumed
  • Inside the oven cleaned, not just the stovetop
  • Kitchen degreasing for the film that collects on surfaces and around the range

I call it a First-Time Clean because it is how I like to start with a new home — it resets everything to a baseline I can then maintain. If it has been a while since your last thorough clean, this is the one you want.

When to choose each

Choose a standard clean if

  • Your home is already in good condition
  • You clean regularly and want to stay ahead of it
  • You are on a recurring schedule with me

Choose a deep first-time clean if

  • It is our first visit together
  • It has been months since a real top-to-bottom clean
  • You are prepping for guests, a party, or a season change

If you are moving instead, that is a different job entirely — a move-out clean is my most detailed tier and is built for empty homes that have to pass inspection.

The price difference

Here is how the two compare per visit, side by side:

  • Studio / 1BR: standard $100, deep $130
  • 2BR: standard $120, deep $155
  • 3BR: standard $150, deep $190
  • 4BR: standard $180, deep $240

You can plug your home size into the instant quote calculator to see your exact number, or browse every tier on my full pricing page. The deep clean costs more only because it takes longer — that is the whole difference.

A quick way to picture the difference

Think of a standard clean as keeping the surface fresh and a deep clean as getting underneath it. A standard visit leaves the kitchen wiped-down and tidy; the deep clean gets inside the oven and cuts the grease film off the range and cabinet fronts. A standard visit vacuums and mops; the deep clean also wipes the baseboards a vacuum never touches. Same rooms, different depth — and that extra depth is exactly what you are paying for.

If you are only a little behind, you do not always need the full deep clean. Sometimes a standard clean plus one targeted add-on — like kitchen or bathroom detail — gets you where you want to be for less. When you are unsure, tell me the honest state of your home and I will point you to the option that actually fits, not the pricier one.

How I keep both honest

Whichever service you pick, I photograph every clean before and after, and I flag any pre-existing damage before I start so nothing gets blamed on the clean later. If something is not right, my 24-hour re-clean-free guarantee means you flag it within a day and I come back and re-clean that spot at no charge. Same person, same standard, every time.

Frequently asked questions

Is a deep clean the same as your First-Time Clean?

Yes. My First-Time Clean is the deep clean: it includes everything in a standard clean plus baseboards, inside the oven, and kitchen degreasing.

How much more does a deep clean cost than a standard clean?

By home size, the deep first-time clean runs $130 to $240 versus $100 to $180 for a standard clean, per visit. The difference reflects the extra time it takes.

Do I need a deep clean before starting recurring cleanings?

Usually yes for the first visit, since it resets the home to a baseline I can then maintain with standard cleans. If your home is already in great shape, we can talk about starting standard.

What if I spot something you missed?

Flag it within 24 hours and I will come back and re-clean that spot free. I also photograph every clean before and after for peace of mind.
